THE DONKEYS/ORANGE PEEL SUNSHINE/LEAGUE OF FUCKING DECENCY @ The Lounge on Elm Street
The brief
So as my first music review of 2009 I wanted to kick things off with saying I’m a dick when it comes to live music. I’ve seen enough live music to have a strong conviction on what I believe makes music good. So on this blog I’m going to be a douche. So if I hurt your feelings– I’m sorry. I know you are good people. So know anything I say comes from a place that is constructive.
League Of Fucking Decency
I got to the lounge half way through this bands set. My friend, Aaron from Fat Unicorn was pretty stoked to see these guys. I hadn’t heard of them and wasn’t excited. I just wanted to have a beer after band practice.
I danced a little. Mostly to get the cold off my skin. Really not a bad band but got bored so I went outside and talked about other shit. The singer/guitarist saw me dancing a little bit and made a comment after their set. That was cool. Too jammy for me. I liked the kinda weird repetitive songs they did.

Orange Peel Sunshine
These kids play their instruments well. They also entertained for the first four songs of their set. Half way through I walked down to seven eleven. I think they sound sorta like Jets To brazil fused with Hot Water Music. Pretty decent. Drummer is way talented and fun to watch.

The Donkeys
These guys took forever to sound check. I know they are the touring band but it’s Monday night and almost midnight. Play your fucking jams already. Three people stood in the front. I danced for awhile upstairs and then moved it down stairs. I would have stayed for the duration of their set if they hadn’t bitched about sound after every song.
Very alternative country– with all the irony that comes with a band from California playing it. It was good to stomp your feet too but really forgettable. The keyboard player played bass instead of keys– which they mentioned four times before I left to walk home in the cold.
